Atherton 62.5 MW Solar Farm
Project Summary
The Atherton 62.5MW Solar Farm is proposed on 125Ha of freehold land
owned and operated by the same family for more than 60 years. It is
located on the southern outskirts of Tolga, near Rocky Creek in Far
North Queensland.
The $140M project investment will bring significant economic
activity and benefits to the Atherton Tablelands and surrounding
region.
The solar farm will be constructed on mostly cleared, almost level
land with a gentle slope towards Rocky Creek - historically used for
mixed-use farmland agricultural practices including cattle grazing,
maize, fruit and fodder production.
The site was selected for its high exposure to solar radiation and
proximity to the National Electricity Grid.
Planning Approval (Decision Notice) was granted in July 2019 by the
Tablelands Regional Council.
